‘Refuge’ Teaching

The door to the Dharma path. A Buddhist takes refuge in the Three Jewels of Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, fearing the sufferings of samsara and believing that the Three Jewels have the power to lead him or her out of suffering, to happiness, liberation, or enlightenment.
Geshe la returns to HMT to give his last teaching before going on a 2 month break.
Suggested fee: $20.
Based on the principles of love and compassion, Hospice of Mother Tara exists to provide on-going support for the practice of Buddhist Teachings and to assist those who are experiencing pain or
illness by providing holistic care and an atmosphere of calm.

‘Mind and Cognition’

A BASIC PROGRAMME UNIT

Mondays, 7th May to August 26th
7.00 to 8.30pm

This module is the first in an integrated programme of study of Buddhist philosophy and meditation suited to those who have had experience in Tibetan Buddhist Teachings. Geshe Jampa Gyatso from Lama Tsong Khapa Institute said “we can gain wisdom and more mindfulness and perhaps also introspection. In this way our mind will become more stable.”

This course follows an online programme of teachings, meditation and the group undertaking this course will also form a study group. Other students may attend the teachings and discussions without undertaking the study.

It is assumed that all students for this course will have prior experience with the teachings.

Ordained since the late 1970s, Venerable Robina has worked full time since then for Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s FPMT.

Over the years she has served as the editorial director of Wisdom Publications, editor of Mandala Magazine, executive director of the Liberation Prison Project, and as a touring teacher of Buddhism. Her life and work with prisoners have been featured in the documentary films, Chasing Buddha and Key to Freedom.
