Course modules

 Glenda Lee

Discovering Buddhism' is an FPMT introductory program of 14 units which is suitable for newcomers and more experienced students. The teachings and methods of learning that are used, reflect the unique and highly accessible styles of founders of the FPMT, Lama Thubten Yeshe and his heart disciple and FPMT Spiritual Director, Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

The course is designed to be practical and includes lectures, discussion groups, required reading of important texts, homework, meditations and retreats.

For students who choose to do the entire course it will take approximately two years. However, the flexibility of the program allows students to select and attend the subject areas they would like to investigate but for a more comprehensive overview it is recommended to attend all units as they are offered.

All the teachings in Discovering Buddhism have been designed by the FPMT Education Department staff with the guidance of Lama Zopa Rinpoche. They originate from Shakyamuni Buddha, who imparted his wisdom over 2500 years ago through the great saint and scholar of the 14th century, Lama Tsong Khapa, through Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa to you. Discovering Buddhism is taught at other FPMT centres around the world.
